STORY TIME!
I was invited to the SFX Weekender to work as a crew member for a costuming group which I was quite excited to do. Browsing the SFX site casually, I found out that Eve Myles was going to be there. Instantly, I went into Torchwood fangirl mode and demanded to the world that I needed to get an autograph.
Arriving in Wales and getting Thursday and Friday out the way, Saturday appeared and I was so hyped up. But then, I looked through the timetables to see when Eve Myles was signing and saw that I was going to be working when she was doing so. I started to worry and panic a little, before a member of the costuming group, Caz, came to the rescue.
SO! Both her and myself pootled along to the main stage where Eve had just finished giving her talk and Caz led me to the side and started talking to some of the security blokes.
After a brief chat with them, we were taken backstage and, boom. There she was. Stuffing her face with grapes when we arrived, which made me love her even more instantly. We chatted to her for a while, me just admiring her beauty mostly when I got her to sign some things for me and then I had my picture taken with her.
We were about to leave when I turnt back and said, "do you mind if we take a picture pulling stupid faces?" At first, she looked a little taken back by it, to which I replied with. "It's just, whenever I meet people, Im always there...Smiling like it's some sort of family portrait or something." Eve then looked so relieved, replying with; "Oh my god. I know. I love pulling stupid faces. It's almost relaxing, not having to pull a 'serious' face for photos." With that, she ripped off her glasses and put them wonky on her face, I messed up my hair and thus, the second picture was born.
After getting more hugs and kisses from her, I walked away, as happy as ever.
I don't think I've ever met someone who's so just, adorable and funny and so down to earth. Eve Myles is just physical proof that celebrities aren't some sort of holy creatures, they are just normal people.
